Sub Zero Reception

The tyrant’s out but temperature’s still freezing. I have this immense urge to turn up the thermostat once again although I had previously promised myself never to meddle with it anymore for fear of incurring the wrath of “She who cannot be named”.

The delicate situation is ludicrous. The entire room is filled with 85% warm blooded but relatively hairless homosapiens who when informally polled admitted they felt terribly cold. Yet we have to quietly abide by the biological thermometer of “The Office Voldermort”. What’s one to do? Evolve?
Perhaps I will emerge a hairier human soon. Maybe after a year, you can even hunt me for blubber. Witness the metamorphosis.
On a side note: Global warming is plaguing the Earth. Ironically, turning the air-conditioning up will contribute to warmer environmental temperatures. What does this say? Humans who are able to take the heat last longer (pun unintended). Natural selection rules and Lordess Voldermort may melt into a pool of hot lard before long. Mean, yes. But I await with bated (icy) breath.

Mid-Autumn’s Mooncakes

Eating a piece too many mooncakes may make one look like this:
Or this:
Whatever it is, I only enjoy sampling tiny pieces. So far I haven’t tasted one that will ‘fly me to the moon’. So no, I don’t gorge on whole mooncakes. Quarters are gross enough. >_<
Sidenote: Durian flavoured mooncakes have mass local appeal. But I have to refrain from taking even a small bite. I can't stand the aftertaste in my mouth...

The Case of the Mysterious Necklace (Part 1)

This arrived in the mail a couple of weeks ago. I was puzzled when I opened the package because it did not come with any note, yet it was clearly intended for me.
What a pretty nameplate necklace from an Israeli jeweller. Who could the sweet sender be? Maybe I should probe no further and let it be a beautiful mystery?

Let’s Get the Party Started

Wearing my new BCBG Max Azria Dress (plus cardigan)
The ladies in the company are the sweetest lot. Special thanks to Leia, Esther, Nana and Lynn for making everything possible. Not to mention everyone else…too many to name but well…thanks for joining in the fun, spending money on my gifts and helping with the logistics. Especially Chong and his team of hunks. Thanks for getting the tables into place.
It’s my first experience with an office party so I really appreciate you guys and gals for taking such good care of me. Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you for making this party possible. I will remember this wonderful day for life.

Do you know this is the most beautiful and elaborate birthday cake I have ever set my eyes on? Pink, two-tiered, and oh so girly. Brought up in an ever practical family, we were more into the taste than the aesthetic appeal of our birthday cakes. This is a young girl’s dream fulfilled—I’m little too old now but it’s better late than never. Now, says who that “We can’t have our cake and EAT it”?

Performed 2 magic tricks for my colleagues and the 2nd one didn’t go as well as planned. Lack of practice. Need to polish my skills before I entertain my audience in future. The red hearts that Bee Teng and I were holding in the group photos are my part of my props. =P

I requested for books/ vouchers as gifts this year. Thank you friends! The bonus is this bottle of Marc Jacobs perfume.
It’s called “Blush and it has become my favourite scent of 2007. Its luminous floral scent lingers softly and sensually on the skin making the wearer feel chic and classy. Thank you thoughtful ladies for choosing this. I absolutely love it.

A Scrumptious Luncheon

Bee Teng and I decided to hold a joint birthday celebration in the office on the last day of August in the office.
Thanks to Lynn’s recommendation, we ordered from a superb caterer called Pasta N Grill. The food’s simply superb and the affordable. Everyone was satiated and we even had enough for second helpings during tea. More about the party in the next post. Let’s focus on all the food for now.

Just Fabulous!

Today’s my birthday but I awoke to rude surprise. When I looked into the mirror to check what was causing the bulging discomfort on my peepers, what greeted me was a pair of alien baby’s eyes.

Teary, red, swollen—I looked like I had zipped my way from Pluto to Earth just to question IAU (International Astronomical Union) why they kicked Pluto out of the planetary category.

Just fantastic. A pair of freaky doll’s eyes AND NO dinner date at a romantic spot in a Dempsey Road restaurant. Fabulous birthday this would be today.
Oh well, it’s not any of the aforementioned points that disturb me. It’s just that I have got to meet this suave young entrepreneur later in the day for a consultation session and this definitely makes a distracting affliction to look at.
Argh!
Had a fun filled office party last Friday. Pictures and blog entry will be up soon.
Cheers to myself. Live long and prosper, Ivy Yeo!
